Float shoe & float equipment for lease are assembled into the casing string before it is run into the well. The float shoe sits at the bottom, providing a smooth lead-in and a check valve that permits cement and fluids to flow downward but restricts reverse flow. Above the shoe, float collars add additional check valve security and provide structural support for cement displacement.
During pumping, the cement slurry moves downward through the casing, exits through the float shoe’s openings, and flows into the annulus. As pumping concludes, the check valves in the float shoe and float collars prevent fluid or cement from returning into the casing, maintaining pressure and supporting proper placement of plugs and returns.
The design of float tools helps operators manage pressure, control returns, and execute displacement sequences with greater predictability, especially in challenging downhole environments.
